The government agency in charge of ensuring Metro Manila's water supply said on Monday that the China-funded plan to build a new dam in the town of Infanta, Quezon is a "done deal" despite opposition from environmentalists and local residents.
Local officials and residents of Infanta have opposed the dam's construction over concerns it would flood several villages and displace residents.

Electricity
Tycoon Dennis Uy of Udenna Corporation has purchased 100 percent of Chevron Malampaya’s 45 percent stake in the Malampaya gas field located northwest of Palawan.
Malampaya gas field also supplies 20 percent of the national demand for electricity.
China Backed Telco in AFP Military bases.
The agreement between the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and a 40-percent China-owned telecommunications company (telco) is unconstitutional, Cagayan de Oro City Rep. Rufus Rodriguez said yesterday.
Rodriguez said Section 3 of Article 2 of the 1987 Constitution provides that the AFP is the protector of the people and the state.
“Its goal is to secure the sovereignty of the state and the integrity of the national territory. The deal allowing Dito Telecom to establish its facilities inside military camps will violate our national security and endanger our sovereignty. It is therefore unconstitutional and should not be allowed,” he said.
